Mary Tudor s First And Only Child Between Her Mother And...

Marissa Coffman-Spence San Saba High School English 1302 2 March 2015 Mary Tudor Mary Tudor was born February 18, 1516 to Katherine of Aragon and King Henry Tudor VIII. She was the first and only child between her mother and father. In her early life, the people of England and the royal court adored Mary greatly. â€Å"She was by nature modest, affectionate, and kindly. Like all Tudor princesses she had been well educated, speaking Latin, French, and Spanish with facility, and she was in particular an accomplished musician.† (Thurston). Like her mother, Mary was a strong Catholic since birth and had a Cardinal for a godfather. When Mary was a young child she was betrothed to her much older cousin, Charles V the Holy Emperor. â€Å"Charles made the unfortunate demand that she come to Spain immediately, accompanied by a huge cash dowry. Henry ignored the request and Charles jilted Mary, concluding a match with a more accommodating princess. Meanwhile, Henry invested his daughter as Princess of Wales in 1525 and she held court at Ludlow Castle.†(Hanson ). In the end the arrangement did not work out and Charles left Mary to wed Isabella of Portugal. Mary’s happy childhood did not last long. Around 1527 her father, the King, began wanting a divorce from Katherine. The pair could not produce a male heir to the throne, as Mary was the only child to survive infancy. Informative Speech On Organ Donation - 1915 Words

Did you know that 121,678 people are currently on lifesaving organ transplant lists and of that 121,678 people, 100,791 of them await kidney transplants? Stated in the Organ Donation and Transplantation statistics, thirteen people every day die waiting for that lifesaving kidney transplant. Thirteen people. While waiting for a kidney transplant, there were 4,761 patients that passed in 2014. Another 3,668 became too sick to be eligible for the transplant surgery. Prune Belly Syndrome, is a serious birth defect that causes your kidneys to fail. A boy was born with this syndrome and had to be put on dialysis one year after being born for 10 hours every day for two years. The more time spent on the transplant list, the more of a chance that a patient will receive a transplantation. This part of the system works well, the more severe a patient’s disease the more likely they will receive the transplant that they need but if we had more donors patients would not get to the point where they will die without a transplant soon. There just aren’t enough organs to go around from the donor list. The problem with the current system of the United States transplant service is simple. There just isn’t enough people willing to donate their kidney and not be given anything in return for the time that they took to donate a part of them. According to the Organ Donation and Transplantation Statistics, every month there are more than 3,000 patients that are being added to the kidney transplant list. Out of the 100,000 people on the kidney transplant list as of January 11th, 2016, only 17,000 kidney transplants took place. Around 11,500 of those transplants, the kidneys came from deceased donors and approximately 5,500 came from living donors. Now, I know for professional growth, I need to develop an inclination towards knowing the world beyond my cultural boundaries. With the help of that quiz, I realized that the socio- political context of my country and my educational facilities has helped me in developing the knowledge of two different languages. In this multi-cultural world, it is important for us to communicate effectively with people from various ends of this world. However, I have the ambition to work in France. With my insight upon myself, I realized that my knowledge of my native language and English would not be enough for being successful in France. Hence, in next two days, I am going to take a class on French for five months in a national organization. It will help me in understanding and interact with the people more effectively. Conclusion: With the hep of the self-assessment, I participated, I have acquired a self-knowledge about my ability to work in diversified work culture. My circumstances are not being much helpful for me to make me connected to the multicultural context. However, I am giving my full effort for preparing myself for a multicultural working environment in an overseas country.
